What is Bendrigg Trusts experience of providing activities for people with bone conditions?

Bendrigg Trust specialises in providing outdoor activities for people of ALL abilities! We use a range of specialist equipment to ensure that everyone who would like to take part in the activities can do so safely. Our staff team have the knowledge and experience to enable everyone to experience everything they would like to during their trip.

We have welcomed groups from the lovely Strongbones Charitable Trust to Bendrigg many times over the years. Myles Sketchley, Strongbones Project Development Officer, has written some fantastic blogs about his time here at Bendrigg in 2015, 2018 & 2019.

Last time I went to Bendrigg I went canoeing, zip wiring and outdoor caving, we also toasted marshmallows on an open fire pit, went extreme swinging on a sensory swing and enjoyed social time at the night time disco.

This year, 2019, I have achieved so much more; I have shocked myself at what I CAN and WILL do.

I did something very different that many would think is impossible for wheelchair users to do. I abseiled down an 80 foot quarry. This was an amazing experience that I’m not sure I’ll ever get the chance to do again. I feel that I have broken down a huge barrier by completing this abseil, I never thought I could achieve anything like this so I am really proud of myself for doing it. – Myles
