1 in 5 people in the UK have a disability – that’s 13.9 million people. With the annual cost of bringing up a disabled child being 3 times greater than that of bringing up a non-disabled child, 86% of families go without leisure activities and a third of households cannot afford a week’s annual holiday. This can lead to isolation and negative impacts on health and well-being.

Now more than ever, your donation can help to break down barriers by providing inclusive and accessible adventurous activities to those with a disability or disadvantage like the Whittingham family;

Going to Bendrigg gave my son the opportunity to get outdoors again, somewhere he felt safe. It have him a great sense of freedom not being controlled by the environment, health and people around him. The whole day had such a great sense of fun, I hadn’t seen my son laugh, smile have fun and be at total ease for months. His confidence was brimming, he was being more independent and was able to make choices with little prompting.
