CARLISLE MENCAP’S 10-YEAR LINK WITH BENDRIGG

Carlisle Mencap is a charity that has been operating for more than 50 years and currently provides support and services for more than 500 adults and children with learning disabilities and their families across Cumbria.

For 10 years now, Carlisle Mencap has chosen Bendrigg Trust as one of the select venues to take our service users on Activity Breaks. Currently, these Activity Breaks are being fully funded by a three-year grant from BBC Children in Need.

The facilities at the Bendrigg Trust’s centre at Old Hutton are marvellous and our staff and team leaders have nothing but praise for them. Our service users also thoroughly enjoy the activities like the climbing wall, archery and the water sports like canoeing.

A party from Carlisle Mencap has just returned from a weekend Activity Break at Bendrigg Trust. And already, after we put photos from the trip on the Carlisle Facebook page, we have received really favourable comments, like the two below!

“Thank you to everyone involved in the trip. Our son was one very tired but very excited boy when he returned from the weekend break. He has been telling us all about it”

“A wonderful experience for our boy. He had a great time. Many thanks!”

So there you have it – and here’s to the next 10 years of Carlisle Mencap staff and service users enjoying fabulous action-packed breaks at the Bendrigg Trust!
