Training for individuals

Training for individuals who want to increase their knowledge and skills

We offer open training courses based at Bendrigg throughout the year for individuals who want to build their confidence and skills in working with disabled people.

Our engaging, interactive training focuses on participation, discussion and experiential learning and the voices and stories of disabled people bring the sessions alive.

You will leave our training with practical solutions to take back to your work and feeling more confident and better equipped to welcome disabled visitors.

Courses are held throughout the year at Bendrigg and are open to any individual interested in accessibility and inclusion. We also offer online webinars and bite-size learning to update your skills and knowledge.

"I absolutely loved the course, I feel so much more confident working with my groups and know how to adapt activities to make them accessible, thank you so much."
Freya Lovett
Outdoor Learning Officer, Cumbria Wildlife Trust
"Not only did the course provide a deep dive into the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, but I also had the opportunity to explore Bendrigg’s amazing facilities. Huge thanks to the team at Bendrigg for their expertise and for creating a space that encourages open discussion and learning. It’s a great reminder of the impact we can have when we embrace diversity and make inclusion a priority in both our personal and professional lives."

"The trainer was phenomenal – I loved her energy and the way she gave us time to think about things. She has a way of making everyone feel included and heard… I found the terminology session very useful and liked that we were given time to talk things through."

Great content and delivery, with lots of food for thought and signposting to best practice. Useful to have break out groups to discuss our own situations and to network.
