Silver Duke Of Edinburgh's Award Shine For Silver!

Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants must complete:

– a 3 day, 2 night expedition (training & practice required)

– 6 months volunteering

– physical and skills sections, one for 3 months and the other for 6 months

For each section, (volunteering, physical and skills) an average of 1 hour per week is expected.

Individuals can start working toward achieving their Silver Award at 15 years old.

 


Bendrigg Silver Expedition

We currently run the training, practice & qualifying courses for established groups with a minimum of 4 participants.

There is potential to also run training, practice and qualifying courses for Individuals looking to complete this section of their Silver DofE but there would need to be a minimum of 4 participants for the course to go ahead.

The DofE are very supportive towards those with additional needs and in return this allows us to adapt expeditions to make it achievable for all.

We can provide :
• Expeditions via foot, wheelchair, canoe or a combination of all
• Accommodation can be either camping with specialist equipment or wheelchair accessible bunkhouse
• All safety and specialist equipment
• All group equipment supplied including cooking stoves, tents, rucksacks, roll mats, maps & compasses and first aid kit.
• Supervision throughout the training and expeditions
• Accredited assessors
• Support with the variation and green forms
• Experienced staff

Additional Information

A minimum of 4 individuals is required for the expedition to run.

All awards must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.
