Gold Duke Of Edinburgh's Award Go For Gold!

Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants must complete:

– a 5 day, 4 night residential course

– a 4 day, 3 night expedition

– 12 months volunteering

physical and skills sections, one for 6 months and the other for 12 months

For each section (volunteering, physical and skills) an average of 1 hour per week is expected.

Individuals can start working towards their Gold award from 16 years old.

 


Gold Residential Courses

To complete the Residential section of your Gold DofE we can design a fully inclusive activity residential. You’ll challenge yourself doing a range of adventurous activities such as climbing, canoeing, caving, cycling, zip wire plus much more!

We take special pride in structuring our courses to suit your individuals needs, whilst also ensuring that the DofE conditions are followed as closely as possible giving each participant a sense of achievement.

Bendrigg Open Expedition

We run training, practice and qualifying courses for individuals to complete their Expedition.

Bendrigg Group Expedition

Please get in touch with us if you are a group who would like to book an Expedition (minimum of 5 participants).

Additional Needs

The DofE are very supportive towards those with additional needs and in return this allows us to adapt expeditions to make it achievable for all.

We can provide :
• Expeditions via foot, wheelchair, canoe or a combination of all
• Accommodation can be either camping with specialist equipment or wheelchair accessible bunkhouse
• All safety and specialist equipment
• All group equipment supplied including cooking stoves, tents, rucksacks, roll mats, maps & compasses and first aid kit.
• Supervision throughout the training and expeditions
• Accredited assessors
• Support with the variation and green forms
• Experienced staff

Additional Information

A minimum of 4 individuals are required for both parts of the expedition to run.

A minimum of 5 individuals are required for the open residential to run.

16-17 year old’s must be accompanied by an adult.
