Charity Challenges Achieve Something Incredible

Bendrigg Trust is a registered charity and outdoor centre that provides life enhancing outdoor adventures for people with disabilities.

We receive no statutory funding and it costs around £1,000,000 to keep our vital services supporting 3,000 disabled and disadvantaged people each year. Although we raise around £650,000 through our subsidised fees charged to service users we still need to raise another £350,000 to cover our operating costs. These funds come in the form of grants, individual donations, corporate partners, fundraising events, legacies and people taking part in Charity Challenges to raise funds throughout the year.

The short video below shows the young pupil’s from Wilson Stuart School on their Bendrigg Residential. By supporting us and raising funds through a charity challenge, you’ll be enabling more disabled people to have adventures of a lifetime.

The Great North Run

The Great North Run is the world’s most iconic half marathon (13.1 miles) with 1000’s of supporters attending each year it is an incredible atmosphere to attend as both a runner and a spectator! It’s an event which is firmly part of the Bendrigg Trust Charity Challenge Calendar. We’ve had runners taking part in aid of Bendrigg for 18 years, helping to raise vital funds to enable more disabled people to have adventures of a lifetime.

Keswick To Barrow & Coniston To Barrow

The Keswick to Barrow (40 miles) & Coniston to Barrow (21 miles) walk is the biggest team walking event in Cumbria. The idea of the walk originated in 1966 as a result of a statement made by John F Kennedy that “Every American should be capable of walking 50 miles a day”. We have entered teams of walkers in the past and again in recent years, with an event like this so close to home, we’d love to see more members of our local community and beyond to walk in aid of Bendrigg.

The Edinburgh & Glasgow Kiltwalks

The Kiltwalks are a relatively new event in the Bendrigg Calendar. There are 3 distance options for walkers (24, 14 or 6 miles) and you can enter as a team or an individual. One of the great things about the Kiltwalk is that there is a 50% funding boost on top of the funds you raise. So if you raise £100 Bendrigg will received £150 – meaning your fundraising will make an even bigger difference to our beneficiaries.

The Superhero Tri & Winter Wonder wheels

The Superhero Series is the UK’s one and only disability sports series for the Everyday Superhero! In the Superhero Tri you can take part in a sprint, half or full Triathlon event. In the Winter Wonderwheels, Everyday Superheroes are invited to cycle, walk, run, push, or anything in between, a 1km, 5km or 10km course.

Ride London

Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts at 06:00 in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside.

The money you raise will make a huge difference to our charity. Times are tough for everyone right now, but particularly for those families with a disabled member. We rely on donations to be able to subsidise our courses and ensure that people of all abilities can afford to come to Bendrigg and experience adventure.
