Sedbergh Gives Back

Today was Sedbergh Gives Back Day – where over 500 pupils from the local schools volunteer at various local charities to give back!

We had a group of 40 pupils from Powell House attend and help Ed our maintenance man with all sorts of maintenance and grounds work including developing an accessible wheelchair obstacle course.

The weather didn’t put them off and each individual worked extremely hard to achieve a great deal in just 8 hours.

We have just 1 full time maintenance man onsite at Bendrigg, for him to have accomplished all that you have today, would have taken him weeks. Volunteering really does make a huge difference to our small charity and is very much appreciated”

Nick Liley, Bendrigg Principal

We also received a beautiful Christmas Wreath from the pupils at Robertson House which is making Bendrigg look very festive!

Thank you to all of the amazing pupils who have volunteered at local charities today, it’s with these acts of kindness, that small charities like us can make huge progress in such a short space of time, you should all be extremely proud of yourselves!

Tree Planting Day

As part of the Woodland Trusts Big Climate Fightback Campaign on Saturday 30th November, we pledged to plant 150 trees around the grounds at Bendrigg Trust.

It was a fantastic day with over 25 volunteers of all ages giving up their time to come and help make a difference. Both children and adults had a great time and after all the hard work we had hot drinks and cakes in the sunshine!

We planted a selection of trees and shrubs which were given to us by the TCV –  (The Community Volunteering Charity) who, in conjunction with OVO energy, have given away over 1 million free trees to community groups and charities as part of their I Dig Tree’s campaign.

Thanks to everybody who joined us on the day!

Barclays Bank Volunteer Party!

A huge thank you to the fantastic team from Barclays Bank who travelled from all over the UK to come and volunteer at Bendrigg yesterday.

They kindly brought some shrubs and a tree to plant at the side of our new pathway, they also built benches and helped with various other projects around our 5 acres of grounds!

It was a brilliant day. Thoroughly enjoyed helping out and was amazed at the facilities you have and the work you do.
Inspiring.
