Bendrigg Trust Party Night – With DJ Oli On The Decks

There Ain’t No Party Like A Bendrigg Party

DJ Oli bringing the Bendrigg party to you!

Party nights are such a fun part of a Bendrigg residential, everyone can let their hair down, celebrate their achievements together and have a good old boogie! Because we’ve been closed and many groups have missed out on their Bendrigg Residentials and Parties, DJ Oli (a regular Bendrigg visitor and adrenaline junkie) wants to bring the party to you at home and he’s planning to create a very special DJ set just for us.

My name is DJ Oli and I am 15. I Started DJ-ing in 2019. I enjoyed it and now I really love it. I use my eyes and DJ software. I would like to help Bendrigg by putting on a disco for people and hopefully raise some money. Bendrigg means a lot to me, because I go there with 1 voice and my friends. I loved the crate stack, climbing and tube slide.

Please join the party and donate some money it going to be fun!

From DJ Oli

Oli is a 15 year old with a serious passion for music. Oli uses Virtual DJ software which he accesses using eye tracking technology, which he also uses to speak.

Before lockdown, Oli had a full calendar of musical commitments and was hoping to perform a set at No Limits Disability music festival in Barnsley. Unfortunately this was cancelled and Oli’s family have been shielding since March. But he has not let this get in the way of his music-making, Oli has his own Beathubz channel and has been hosting discos and weekly sets on Zoom which he shares with friends. He also DJ ‘s regularly on Social Distance Radio show.

Oli has been coming to Bendrigg for years with his family and friends from the 1 Voice group (A charity for children and families using AAC – Augmentive Alternative Communication). When he heard about the Save Outdoor Ed campaign he wanted to use his passion for music to raise funds for Bendrigg and give people a fun event to attend during what has been a difficult time.

Join The Party

At 6pm on Saturday 13th of March Oli will be DJ-ing his special set live on beathubz with some epic party anthems for you to listen along! We’ll also be hosting a VIP zoom party with breakout rooms for people to dance, chat and get together to have a good time. With a few familiar faces from Bendrigg hoping to also join the party!

Entry is Free

You can enjoy Oli’s music set and join the zoom event for free, but if you’re able to please show some love for DJ Oli and Bendrigg by making a donation via Oli’s fundraising page. All funds raised will go to Bendrigg Trust Subsidy Fund, enabling more disabled people to access adventure activities.

How Can I Join The party?

You will need

  • A good internet connection
  • Some sort of smart device or computer to listen/watch
  • Some headphones if you want to join the silent disco
  • The beathubz link and the Zoom link so that you can listen and join the party (we will email you these once you have registered below)

Oli suggests using 2 devices if you can, so that you can join and chat with your communication aid in Zoom and listen/watch/dance to the music on Beathubz. (DJ Oli’s Beathubz channel or here if you have streaming issues) on a separate device. That way you can choose to have a break from the music to chat with your friends or plug into beathubz and join our disco breakout room for a boogie.

Sign Up To Attend!

You’ll need to sign up using the form below registrations close at 1pm on Friday 12th March – you’ll receive an automatic confirmation (please check your junk mail before contacting us).

Your mission: You can set your own super goal, from 100m to 1,000km or more! You can also choose to use your Super Senses to reach your goal!

Where: Wherever you want! Living room, garden, local park, street, countryside… The choice is yours.

How: You can run, walk, wheel, cycle, swim, skate, sniff, taste and more towards your mission… Or a combo of any/all the above! All ‘gadgets or gismos’ are welcome, from souped-up wheelchairs and adaptive bikes to canoes and rollerblades!

Superhero Tri- 14th August 2021

Your mission: There are three epic distances to choose from and many super ways to take part in these unique tri challenges, from taking on all three stages (a swim, cycle and push/run) to sharing the fun in a team relay!

There are just two things we ask. Firstly, that every solo participant or at least one team member considers themselves to have any type of disability to enter. Secondly, that everyone who has a part to play during the challenge – whether you’re assisting in transition, a participant, or a Sidekick buddy on the course – is registered as a full member of the team. This means that everyone, however big or small your role, gets a medal, T-shirt and Super Kit Bag!

To ensure you’re all set for a fantastic day, do check out our Superhero Tri Get Set page for everything you need to know, from venue directions to the super kit you’ll need.

Now for the fun part. Read on for inspiration on how you can complete your tri challenge. Then click on the button below to choose your distance and get booking!

Where: at the world class Dorney Lake where 3,500 other superhero’s and their sidekick participants will join in the fun.

When: 14th August 2021

Why super costumes, of course! Here’s some super inspiration to help you look and feel the part for your At Home challenge: Super costume ideas.

How will you face your race? Superheroes can ‘fly solo’ for all three tri stages – boom! – or if you like to roll with a crew you can have up to five on your team and share the work and the fun! Perfect for Superheroes who might smash one or two stages but the last is like a big lump of Kryptonite.

There are many fun ways to take part as a team. Superheroes can bring a Sidekick to assist or simply accompany them for one or more stages, or unite with friends and family to take on a relay stage each! Or Sidekicks with super strength can tow, push and pull their lucky Superhero around all three stages for the ride of their life!

For this last option, the fun starts at the swim stage when only the Sidekick/s will enter the water to tow the Superhero in a vessel of their choosing (e.g. dinghy/canoe/inflatable) before pushing or pulling them with their chosen super kit around the bike and push/run stages! You just need to let us know that you’ll be using a towing vessel in the water when you sign up, so we can put you in the right wave.

Everyone who signs up will get: Memento medal, Super Kit Bag, Finisher’s T-shirt, Super swim hat, On-course hydration, Super-sized fun day in our Superhero Village, The chance to be a Superhero or Sidekick for the day. Priceless!

Fundraising: We ask that individuals raise a minimum of £100 / teams commit to raising £200
