Saturday 11th February 2017
The first Bendrigg Ball took place on Saturday 11th February 2017 to raise vital funds for Bendrigg to continue challenging perceptions of disability. The total funds raised from the event was in excess of £32,000 – an astounding amount! The Ball was held at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal and all funds raised on the night support our Acorn House Appeal.
This special evening helped to raise funds for the Acorn House appeal which will allow us to support people with more severe and profound disabilities by kitting out our new accommodation block with vital specialist equipment. Our special guest was Jamie Andrew, mountaineer and quadruple amputee who, despite having no hands or feet, has successfully climbed the Matterhorn last year. His is an inspirational story of what can be achieved when afforded the opportunity and he recently fronted a BBC Radio 4 Appeal on our behalf.
The drinks reception was held in the Kendal Suite after which guests proceeded down to the Function House for the remainder of the evening. During the evening there was an auction, raffle and silent auction.
We are so grateful to everyone for their support and outstanding generosity.
If you couldn’t make it to the Ball but would still like to donate you can do so here.
